AVI continues its outreach by providing education, training, mentoring, and support by bridging the needs of villages with local, state, and national USDA offices. Our educational outreach related to agriculture and farming business seeks to expand the number of rural socially disadvantaged farmers with managerial and financial skills needed to operate a farm. The programs will also provide the opportunity to understand programs and opportunities through the Farm Service Agency with assistance from AVI.
AVI's program approach is consistent with Objective 2.2 of the USDA Strategic Plan for FY 2018-2022 by developing new farmers in new locations that will "ensure a reliable food supply, support growth, and promote economic development" in rural Alaska.
