This project will develop a Michigan inter-institutional network of technical assistance providers that will together improve their skillsets, resources, outreach and engagement processes for socially-disadvantaged farming communities. By working alongside external partners, the network of providers will be able to reach more food and farm businesses and assess and improve Michigan State University education and resources within a DEI and culturally appropriate framework. The network will create a core pathway for Michigan farming communities of color to engage with agricultural resources in a way that is restorative, supportive and a revised model of outreach in target communities that includes in-person time, active listening, cultural, racial, and gender appropriate resources.
